I’ve had a passion for fitness since my teens (and possibly earlier than that – but who can remember back that far?), in 2016 I left my role as an advertising agency producer to follow my dream and set up my own business ‘Grá For Fitness’.
I’m a qualified Pilates and yoga teacher as well as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. The majority of my clientele are females in their 40s and 50s, therefore perimenopause and menopause are an increasingly important consideration in my work and education.
While I originally focused on the importance of muscle and bone health in my ‘strength for women’ classes, I felt I needed to take a more holistic approach to exercise around menopause and completed a ‘Yoga for Menopause’ teacher training, allowing me to offer more understanding and support to my clients.
As the menopause experience is different for each woman so too can be their concerns and needs from a physical activity point of view. While I tailor sessions for my one-to-one sessions to the individual, I also offer Movement for Menopause classes where I use a mix of Pilates, yoga and work with resistance bands as well as breath work and meditation.
